Very happily, Life 18, Self Portrait in the Third Person, has been selected for the Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum’s Open Competition which runs from now until June 2017. It will then be at the NEC as part of Through Our Hands – A Portrait, gallery in August. I shall be there for the whole of the 4 days of Festival of Quilts, so please come along and say hello!!
I’m also appearing in the next issue of Pretty Patches magazine which also highlights the TOH Portrait Shuffle. (TOH is curated by Laura Kemshall and me. Catch up with us here: www.throughourhands.co.uk)
The Portrait Shuffle is a fund raising idea for Save The Children. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone, anywhere in the world, to be part of an exhibition of portraits. At the same time, you’ll be helping Through Our Hands raise funds for Save The Children, who do so much to help children around the world be safe, healthy and have an opportunity to learn and live their lives to the full.
Not only will your portrait be part of a wonderful display of creative work at the NEC alongside the work of 27 international artists, but it will then be shuffled and you’ll receive someone else’s portrait in return – an original artwork to keep!
I have one more life story quilt to make before the series ends (maybe only temporarily!) and I am excited by starting some new work which I hope takes the painted quilt a step further towards fine art. I’ll leave others to decide on that one!! I shall be starting soon and will be posting progress on this blog of course.
Thanks for reading. Annabel x
