WARWICKSHIRE MUSEUM 1 - DECAY

Site specific piece for an exhibition at Warwickshire Museum, in Warwick. Based on the mineral colours found in the museum shop.

Layers of raw edge applique fabric (own painted, or dyed) over an acrylic painted background. Heavily free machined with various words and stitching, including MUSE, USE, MUSEUM, UM, AMUSE. Various threads couched to surface. Painted web applied by machine and then melted. 23ct gold gilded to rubbed surfaces of a fossil ammonite, provided by the museum.

Winner of The Peoples Choice Award, Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum Open Competition 2007.

Site specific piece for exhibition at Warwickshire Museum (Images of a Museum) Raw edge applique on painted cloth with stitch. Overlay of green cotton lattice and 23 ct gold gilding to ammonite rubbings.









































AMMONITES


Close up of copper wire ammonites. Dyed and painted background cloth with large hand stitching. Fabric for central squares made by heavily free machining white cloth with a colourwash of thread. This was then cut up and pieced with dyed fabric to match.
